E-Mail Authorization Configuration

It includes general, sender/recipient address and external SMTP server privileges for E-mail servers.

SMTP General Authentications

SMTP HELO/EHLO Controls

When verifying SMTP, it is almost imperative that HELO/EHLO names be in FQDN standards. Names returning from HELO / EHLO must definitely be IP decoding. At this stage it is very important to enter a valid HELO/EHLO name on all services, especially 25,587.

Note: SMTP servers also control the RDNs of the host returning from the HELO name.

E-mail Servers

DNS/reverse DNS registration and connecting IP are checked on E-mail servers. If this information is not available and is inconsistent, the feature in this area should be turned on to deny incoming requests.

Sender Address Controls

The FQDN of the domain name at the sender address is checked and the DNS A(or MX) record is checked. For these controls, the features in this area must be opened.

Receiver Address Controls

The FQDN of the domain name at the recipient address is checked and the DNS A(or MX) record is checked. For these controls, the features in this area must be opened.

Protocol Controls

This feature must be turned on to check and deny connections that do not match the SMTP command sequence.

Sender / Receiver Address Authentications

Decision on sender and recipient addresses(allow, quarantine,…) are given.

Important Note: The e-mail server and domain definition must be added as authoritative to the sender address authorizations. Otherwise the user cannot send email.

External SMTP Server Authentications

For incoming SMTP connections, you can use this configuration to accept or reject SMTP connections from specific e-mail servers. You can use an IP address or a network address in CIDR format as the server address.
